A professional custom shower base installation, including tiling, can run over $1000. If you dislike the look of pre-made fiberglass shower pans, and you feel capable of building a custom shower pan yourself, a beautiful and affordable shower base is possible for a couple hundred bucks. Plan and Build the Shower Curb
I found this diagram and am excited to see that someone else has built shower pans the way we did.
The main objective is to create a completely waterproof sloped floor, with a drain, raised edge frame, and pretty mosaic tiles to cover it all up.
1. You should have your shower enclosure measurements before you start building your shower pan. In my case, I'm building a shower pan for a 40" neo-angle shower enclosure, which includes 2 glass panels and 1 glass door.
2. Using the 1"x2" boards, create a model representation of your shower door/panels.
